Remember when you were five and wanted to be a cowboy/cowgirl? How about at six when you wanted to be a fireman/woman?  By eight you knew for sure you would be an astronaut!  Well ladies and gentlemen..hang on to that dream... it might come true.  Read the attached file to learn about the NASA program at PCCC.

PCCC would like you to attend a STEM conference on April 7th? Learn about the high-paying opportunities a degree in STEM-related programs can offer.    Take an introduction to genetics, participate in the International Hour of Code.... get a free lunch!
Any Juniors or Seniors interested in learning more about this program, read the attached flyer and come see Mrs. Prosperi in room 249 to sign up.  Don't miss a great opportunity to learn how PCCC can take you to the next level.

On Thursday, February 15, there were 7 STEM students performing "Man in the Mirror" at the Black History Month Celebration hosted by the Board of Education.

Martin Luther King, Jr. and Barack Obama have made great historic speeches of equality, discrimination and their hope for change.  Today, these famous words continue to resonate in the hearts and souls of all Americans.  Another visionary, Michael Jackson wrote a song "Man in the Mirror," and through his lyrics, he helps us all to realize that change begins with us.

Perhaps in addition to Science, Technology, Engineering and Math

STEM may also stand for Scholarship, Tenacity, Education and Money!!  Two more JFK students, Ahmet Sonmez (BTMF student and Robotics Member) and STEM student Rupa Begum have each been awarded the Horatio Algers Association State Scholarship Award.  This highly prestigious award is given to a select group (only 13 NJ State students) of academic achievers who are also believers in giving back to their community through community
service hours.  Best of luck to both of you!!

I am honored to announce that 11th grader Amel Hassan and 12th grader Jeferson Mendoza, both JFK-STEM students have been selected for the NJCDC's 2017 MLK award. This marks the 6th year a student from our robotics program has won the award. What is even more special is that two students were selected this year!

Dr. DeCaprio, a member of the board of directors at NJIT, spoke to STEM students in December.  In addition to being a retired, accomplished, biomedical engineer with Becton-Dickenson for many years, he is still involved in research in the biomedical engineering field with NJIT.

Dr. DeCaprio provided our students with a glimpse into career options available to them in biomedical engineering.  This information will go a long way in assisting students in our engineering and forensics pathways as they choose college majors and careers.
